THE HISTORY
Founded in 2014 by the Gil Family, Bodegas Morca is a standout project located in the village of Borja. As a prominent branch of the Gil Family Estates, the winery was established with a singular mission: to produce exceptional, small-production wines that capture the soul of the Garnacha grape. By treating vineyards that have been in local families for generations with the same reverence as their own ancestral lands, the winery balances cutting-edge sustainable technology—operating entirely off the electrical grid—with a deep respect for traditional viticulture.
THE TERROIR
In the "Empire of Garnacha," the vines of Bodegas Morca endure the fierce Cierzo, a cold north wind that sweeps through the Moncayo mountain slopes. The landscape is a study in resilience, where old bush vines thrive in stony, limestone-rich soils at altitudes reaching up to 3,000 feet. This harsh environment, marked by relentless summer sun and freezing winters, forces the grapes to develop an intense concentration of flavor. From the fresh and floral Flor de Morca to the powerful, scarlet depths of Tourán, every bottle reflects the tenacity of a land where the earth and the elements converge to create wines of massive power and refined minerality.
